ending slavery. restoring lives. a pieceful movement of many voices
Where’s the place you can find a 1996 Kia Sephia, free used socks, and sex for a small fee? Why, Craigslist, of course! The website that
made us all realize you never really need to buy anything new has come
under fire once again for its controversial sex advertisements.
A new financials evaluation of the site estimates that one-third of Craigslist’s $100+ million revenue comes via sex-related ad sales.
While a lot of the bed romp classifieds are legit, there still remains
a large market related to prostitution and even some underage
prostitution. Craigslist refused comment on the financials projections,
but the company’s chief executive, James Buckmaster, did send an email
to the New York Times, saying: “Of the thousands of U.S.
venues that carry adult service ads, including venues operated by some
of the largest and best known companies in the U.S., Craigslist has
done the best and most responsible job of combating child exploitation
and human trafficking.”
