YES OREGON. Trafficking Hotline Bill passed

The bill was sponsored by
Reps. Brent Barton and Jefferson Smith and is one that Multnomah County
Commissioner Diane McKeel worked closely on.

House Bill 3623 recognizes growing human trafficking concerns among Oregon officials.

"Human
traffickers find fertile ground for the forced prostitution of young
women here in Oregon," Smith said in a news release. "And this bill is
a small first step to begin the fight against this growing problem."

Oh OHIO...

COLUMBUS - About 1,000 American-born children are forced into

the sex trade in Ohio every year and about 800 immigrants are sexually

exploited and pushed into sweatshop-type jobs, a new report on human

trafficking in the state said Wednesday.

Human slavery, esp. the child sex trade, is something that I am compelled to address. I would like to start my journey here in Portland, and document some of the trafficking here. I live near 82nd, which seems like a hub for this sort of criminal activity. A lot of the so-called strip clubs are notorious fronts for more sinister things. I would love to take you out for a cup of coffee at the BiPartisan and pick your brain about where I should start and what light needs to be shed where. Eventually, my goal is to earn a fellowship and travel to India for a year, but I definitely need to start locally and help my own community. But we're minors and every organization we've looked into had an 18 year old or older age requirement. Where would you suggest we go to get involved? This is something we both feel God has put on our hearts and we've been praying about it. All we need is the help to get started.
